This 2023 Triceratops Toy Buying Guide intends to help you select the Triceratops Figure Toy that is best for you based on features and your budget. We have ranked the Triceratops from best to worst. However, that doesn't mean the highest rated Triceratops is the right one for you as it may not be within your budget - or it may not be the size you are looking for. Here we discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the different Triceratops figures to assist your decision making so that you can purchase the Triceratops model that is best for you.
Triceratops Overview:
This was one of the hardest species of dinosaurs to pick a winner. Most manufacturers have more than one model. Since the triceratops is so well known, with consensus as to what it looks like, all the figures were at least acceptable, and picking between the figures was difficult. Regardless, we got nit-picky and eventually selected a winner. That said, none of these figures had any major flaws – pick the one that you like best and is within your budget.

We selected this as the best Triceratops toy figure available in 2023. Top notch figure from Schleich.
Size:The Schleich Triceratops measures: 8.25" L x 3.6" T.
Product Highlights: Selected as one of the best Triceratops 2023 in one of the closest competitions. There are many nice Triceratops figures, this Schleich model checks a lot of the boxes and barely beats out the competition.
Features that jump out on this figure are the texture, form, face, and paint. The texture is a rough scale texture with very good feel to the touch. One of the roughest textures of any of the models. Even the face has a good texture.
Paint is a nice brownish/tan, but the red highlights on the back, frill, and face are well applied. While they are a dull red, they really pop off the figure.
The face is one of the better faces. Nice looking beak, good details on the frill and horns have the best texture.
In terms of form, most of the other figures are simply standing. This figure is in a walking pose. Makes it unique.
This model is also on the larger size so it also has that going for it. Based on value / price gets top billing.
This is the most expensive model currently available..
Size: PNSO Doyle The Triceratops measures: 10.6 " L x 4.25" T.
Included base measures: 7.25" L x 4" W.
Product Highlights:
This is an interesting figure from PNSO. As typical with PNSO, they did a great job on this figure (as always at a cost). This is the only figure with a moveable jaw. Mouth has a good range of motion and inside / tongue look good. Head is well shaped - frill is slightly undersized when scaled to other models. Red and white highlights on the frill add detail but look a little busy. Figure is in a walking stance, but with curve and the walk - figure is a bit tippy without the stand. As figure attaches to the stand - quite solid if the stand is used, but if you were not planning on using the stand - figure is tippy. This is the only figure with micro spikes / hairs on the back. Unique, but no idea where the scientific basis for those spikes / hairs come from.
This is the largest and most colorful of the Triceratops figures available.
Size: CollectA Triceratops Deluxe measures: 11.75" L x 5.5" T.
Product Highlights:
If you need a large triceratops toy, this is the figure for you. With its head up, the top of the spike is 5.5" above the surface. Beyond its large size, this figure has the most colorful frill. Head and frill has a black base with orange and white highlights. In a lineup with the other triceratops figures, that bright head really stands out. The head has a good shape and form. Yellow eye sort of gets lost in the multiple paint colors. The body itself and its pose is fairly standard. The finish on the body is quasi shiny and looks a little plastic like. Overall the best features of this CollectA Triceratops is the size and the head colors.
Drawbacks:
Shiny body.
Size: The Papo Triceratops measures: 8.8" L x 4 H.
Product Highlights:
While this is not the largest Triceratops figure available (CollectA is larger), the size of this figure is the first thing you notice. The second thing you notice is brown. Lots of same shade brown on this figure. So this figure is a little plain in color when compared to other triceratops figures. The head is well shaped and the horns, beak, and some of the frill bumps are painted in a flat grey. Along with the yellow eye, these greys are the only non-brown colors on this figure. Stands very stable - overall good shape and a good model. Texture is relatively smooth. Back bumps have low relief and get somewhat lost as they are painted (you guessed it) brown. We simply wish there was a little more paint variation.
Drawbacks:
Needs more color variation – too much plain brown.
Size: EoFauna Prehistoric Triceratops measures: 7" L x 5" T.
Product Highlights:
This is the Brown / Black version of the EoFauna Triceratops. Brown back transitions to a black neck and underbelly. Face is well done in that the orange and tan accents / highlights add contrast. Face shape is well done with a wide open mouth. Horns are raised high and have good shape. Texture of the model is smooth. Overall a very nice Triceratops model.
Size: EoFauna Prehistoric Triceratops #387364 measures: 7" L x 5" T.
Product Highlights:
This is the Brown / Tan version of the EoFauna Triceratops with blue highlights. Blue accents on the frill really pop. Blue legs are noticable and different looking. Face shape is well done with a wide open mouth. Horns are raised high and have good shape. Overall a very nice Triceratops model.
Size: The CollectA Triceratops measures: 7.25" L x 2.9 H.
Product Highlights:
This is the standard (non deluxe) triceratops model from CollectA. Most unique feature is the greenish base color. Figure has some black shiny bumps on the back but they get a little lost on the green base. Face and frill are well shaped. Overall a fine model.
Drawbacks:
None noted – nice model for the price.
Size: The Safari Ltd. Triceratops measures: 7.5" L x 2.6 H.
Product Highlights:
This is a good figure from Safari Ltd. and what really stands out is the paint job. While the green is a dark green - the green back and head really stands out. We like the green face - which makes the tan beak and red tongue stand out. Beak is separately formed instead of one piece with the head. Head looks nice, but eye is a little small and gets lost on the head. Overall a good triceratops model from Safari Ltd.
Very Nice Small Triceratops Toy Figure: Mojo Triceratops #387042
Mojo Triceratops #387042 measures: 7.3" L x 2.8" T.
Product Highlights:
This model is being retired by Mojo which is too bad as this is one of our favorite Mojo models. Of the three Mojo models, this has the most color variety. Tans, browns, and greys are layered to create a nice look. Nice flat paint. Frill has the best shape of the three Mojo figures. Face is well shaped with a nice red accent in the mouth. Too bad it's being retired as we like this Mojo Model.
Size: Mojo Triceratops #387017 measures: 6.5" L x 2.6" T.
Product Highlights:
Currently Mojo has 3 different triceratops models - this is one of the 2 ongoing models. Of the ongoing two models, this is the lessor cost model. Brownish base color transitions to greyish / white underside. Dark brown ridge along the back. Face is well shaped with black highlights on the frill, horns and beak. Model is a little shiny and thus looks a little plastic like. Overall a fine model.
Size: Mojo Prehistoric Triceratops #387364 measures: 8" L x 3" T.
Product Highlights:
This is the deluxe and newest Triceratops model from Mojo. It is also the largest (marginally largest) model from Mojo (but NOT the largest Triceratops available overall). This model has a nice head / face. Mouth is open - has a nice eye - and a good up curve to the 2 main horns. Horns are much darker than in the manufacturer provided picture. Where this figure falls flat for us is on the body. Base paint is a brownish tan. Body is covered with lots of little black dots. Distractingly so. Almost looks like the figure was in a forest fire and looks charred. The figure is fine - it's not charred or burnt - it just looks that way to us. Not our favorite paint / texture. Given the cost and features, this is not our favorite Mojo model.
