This 2023 Squirrel Toy Buying Guide intends to help you select the Squirrel toy model that is best for you based on features and your budget. We discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the five toy Squirrel figures currently available to assist your decision making so that you can purchase the best toy Squirrel toy model that is best for you.
Squirrel Toy Overview:
There are currently 5 different Squirrel toys available. Three of the Squirrel figures are rated as good / very good. The other two are rated as Average. We would select any of the first three, but unless you want a “like pair” in different poses, we would avoid the other two (Mojo) figures.
Best Toy Squirrel (3 way tie): CollectA Red Squirrel #88467
This is our favorite model in a sitting / eating pose. Nice deep texture on the tail. This is the only figure that has white on the back of the tail (another nice detail). Cute figure as it holds and nibbles on an acorn. Generally is one of the lower cost squirrel figures so also represents a great value.
This is our favorite squirrel in running pose. Feet positioning is spread wide and really gives the illusion that the squirrel is skittish and ready to scamper away. While texture is not as deep as on the CollectA Red Squirrel, is appropriate and good looking. If you are looking for a Red Squirrel in a non-eating pose, this figure is your best choice.
As of this writing, this is the only Grey Squirrel option on the market. Thankfully, this is a very well done model. Slightly larger (appropriately) than the other Red Squirrels available. Highlight is the big bushy tail with a great texture and curl. Another highlight is the nut in the mouth. Great Grey Squirrel from Safari Ltd.
While this is an adequately looking squirrel, when compared to the other options, this squirrel just does not have the same level of quality / detail. Very basic body texture and paint application. When side by side with the others, just does not measure up. Could be paired with the other Mojo Red Squirrel model to create a similar looking family.

Toy Squirrel Review Conclusion:
CollectA, Papo, and Safari Ltd. are offering good looking squirrel models. Unless looking for a pair, we would pass on the Mojo models.
