The Velociraptor was a small, highly intelligent, and fast-moving theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 75 to 71 million years ago. Traditionally depicted as a scaly, lizard-like creature, recent discoveries suggest that Velociraptor and many other theropods likely had feathers, which is reflected in Schleich’s model. Known for its agility and hunting prowess, Velociraptor had a slender body, sharp claws, and a distinctive sickle-shaped claw on each foot, which it likely used for hunting and grasping prey. Although it was relatively small, measuring about 6.5 feet long, it is believed that Velociraptor may have hunted in packs, making it a formidable predator. Fossil evidence from Mongolia has provided scientists with a better understanding of its feathered appearance, which helps portray a more accurate vision of this fascinating dinosaur.
The feathered Velociraptor makes quite an impression when it appears. It is yellowy orange, with tiger-like, dark brown stripes along its back. Sharp fangs flash from its mouth, which it likes to show off, opening and closing its jaws threateningly. It even has sharp claws with which the carnivore kills its prey.
The two-meter-long Velociraptor rears up on its hind legs and stretches its flat snout in the air. It has picked up a scent. It lets out a dangerous-sounding growl and opens and closes its mighty jaw a few times. With its sharp fangs, it can shred everything it can get its claws on. Off it runs across the plain. Although its lizard skin is covered in feathers, this carnivore cannot fly. Nevertheless, it’s still fast enough to stay hot on the heels of its prey. Let’s get out of here!
