3 + Years
Small Parts. Not for children under 3 years.
Schleich Brontosaurus is a striking looking figure with beautiful glossy blue and grey paint in a majestic standing pose.
Measures approximately in inches: 12.9 x 2.1 x 4.3 (W x D x H)
This is a striking figure in the classic standing pose. Shiney grey and blue paint application is outstanding. This figure was reviewed by our in-house paleontologist and received a ranking of fairly accurate. Scales are slightly oversized and front foot pads are technically not correct. But, stiking visual pose and coloring makes this a great choice to add to your collectoin.
Brontosaurus; meaning "thunder lizard" from Greek, brontç "thunder" and, sauros "lizard" is a genus of gigantic quadruped sauropod dinosaurs. Although the type species, had long been considered a species of the closely related Apatosaurus, researchers proposed in 2015 that Brontosaurus is a genus separate from Apatosaurus and that it contains three species: B. excelsus, B. yahnahpin, and B. parvus. Brontosaurus was a large, long-necked, quadrupedal animal with a long, whip-like tail, and fore limbs that were slightly shorter than its hind limbs. The largest species, B. excelsus, weighed up to 15 tons and measured up to 22 m (72 ft) long from head to tail. The skull of Brontosaurus has not been found, but was probably similar to the skull of the closely related Apatosaurus. Like those of other sauropods, the vertebrae of the neck were deeply bifurcated; that is, they carried paired spines, resulting in a wide and deep neck.
The art work and detail are beautiful on this hand painted figure.
