CHANGES COLOR WITH TEMPERATURE!
Schleich Chameleon measures: 4" L x 1.3" H.
Schleich Chameleon #14858 Review:
Schleich has released a revolutionary new technology in the form of a chameleon figure that changes color based on its temperature! Just hold the figure in your hand to warm it up and watch its color shift. This is the first ever figure of its kind, and even without the temperature-based color-changing feature, it's a great figure. Its shape is pleasant, its face is cute, and its reddish color palette is striking.
Chameleon Information:
The chameleon is characterized by its ability to change its skin color to match its environment. Its skin colour change is used for camouflage and also to communicate with other chameleons. Chameleons are also known for their bulging eyes and long, sticky tongue which they use to capture their prey.
Chameleons are found in Africa, Madagascar, southern Europe and across Asia. They are primarily ground-dwellers, although some species can climb trees. Chameleons come in a variety of sizes and colours, depending on the species. The smallest chameleon is the Brookesia micra, which is less than an inch long, while the largest is the Parson's chameleon, which can grow up to 24 inches long.
Chameleons have different colouration depending on their environment, as well as their mood. When a chameleon is stressed or frightened, it will usually change to a darker colour. Similarly, when a chameleon is content or relaxed, it will often become lighter in colour. This colour change is done through the contraction and relaxation of special pigment cells.
Product Information from Schleich:
The chameleon not only looks deceptively real. Like its companions, it can also change color. Depending on the temperature, it is either greenish-turquoise or reddish-brown. Try it out right away! Mainly, the male of the species uses his color change to impress the females. But the spectacle impresses his friends too!
The chameleon is perfectly prepared for life in trees with its clawed feet and strong curly tail. So it can cling to branches with its body without being blown down by the wind. Of course it can also camouflage itself by adapting the color of its scaly skin to the tree or rock it happens to be sitting on. But sometimes it changes color when it wants to attract attention. Can your chameleon grab your attention like that?
