Giraffe Calf Information:

Giraffe calves are one of the most adorable animals in the wild. They are born after a gestation period of around 15 months and can stand and walk within hours of being born. Giraffe calves typically weigh around 100-150 pounds at birth and are around six feet tall. They are born with ossicones, which are the bony protuberances on their head that will develop into the giraffe's iconic horns.

In their first few months of life, giraffe calves rely on their mothers for protection and nourishment. They drink their mother's milk for up to a year and stay close to her for safety. However, they are also quite independent and curious, and can often be seen exploring their environment and playing with other calves.

Giraffe calves are at risk from predators such as lions, hyenas, and wild dogs, so they must remain vigilant and stick close to their mothers. As they grow older, they become less vulnerable and more able to fend for themselves.
