Basic Pteranodon figure. Fairly wide for a small Pteranodon figure. Relatively constant shade of yellow predominates this figure. Head is bent to the side – resulting in a fairly flat figure. Often one of the most inexpensive Pteranodon figures.

Pteranodon Information:

Pteranodon are part of the Pterosaur genus – which includes some of the largest flying reptiles. Thus Pteranodons are not dinosaurs, but in fact are flying reptiles. Pteranodons are the most famous Pterosaurs. Over 1,000 Pteranodon fossils have been found. Pteranodons had toothless beaks (similar to birds).

The most distinctive characteristic of the Pteranodon is the cranial crest. The crest was likely just a display feature but may have been used for stability in flight or as a rudder.

Pteranodon was a large pterosaur from the Late Cretaceous Period, around 85 million years ago. Despite often being grouped with dinosaurs, pterosaurs were a separate but related group of flying reptiles. While they did not have feathers like birds and some dinosaurs, some pterosaurs were covered in hair-like structures called pycnofibers.

Pteranodon was a huge flying reptile with a wingspan of over 20 feet. It belonged to an extinct group of reptiles called pterosaurs. Pterosaurs were not dinosaurs, but were closely related. Pteranodon lived during the Cretaceous Period, about 86 million years ago in what is now western North America. Although Pteranodon and other pterosaurs resembled modern bats, they were not related.
