Western Diamondback Rattlesnake Information:

A large, venomous snake found in arid and semi-arid regions of North America, ranging from southern California to western Arkansas and into northern Mexico. It is known for its distinctive diamond-shaped patterns along its back, which are outlined by lighter-colored scales. This rattlesnake can grow up to 7 feet in length, though most individuals are between 4 and 6 feet. The Western Diamondback is highly adaptable, inhabiting various environments such as brushy flatlands, rocky slopes, and even areas near human settlements. It preys on a wide variety of animals, including rodents, birds, and other reptiles, using its heat-sensing pit organs to locate warm-blooded prey at night. Despite its fearsome reputation, it plays a crucial role in controlling rodent populations in its ecosystem.
