Yangchuanosaurus shangyouensis was a formidable theropod dinosaur that roamed what is now China.
Yangchuanosaurus belonged to the family Metriacanthosauridae, closely related to other large theropods like Allosaurus. This species was first discovered in the Upper Shaximiao Formation in the Sichuan Province, with its fossils providing valuable insights into the diversity of theropods in Asia. The name Yangchuanosaurus translates to 'Lizard from Yang-chuan', reflecting its discovery location.
