Yutyrannus, meaning "feathered tyrant," was a genus of large theropod dinosaur that lived during the early Cretaceous period, approximately 125 million years ago. It is notable for being one of the largest known dinosaurs to have been feathered. Yutyrannus stood about 9 meters (30 feet) long and weighed around 1.4 metric tons (1.5 short tons). Its discovery in China provided crucial evidence supporting the theory that some dinosaurs were covered in feathers. Despite its large size, Yutyrannus likely used its feathers primarily for insulation rather than flight.
