Tyrannosaurus Rex, affectionately known as T. Rex, has captivated the public imagination since its discovery in the early 20th century. This theropod dinosaur lived during the late Cretaceous period, approximately 68 to 66 million years ago, in what is now western North America. T. Rex was one of the largest known land predators, measuring up to 40 feet in length and standing 12 feet tall at the hips. Its massive skull, which could reach over 5 feet in length, housed powerful jaws capable of exerting tremendous bite force, estimated to be among the strongest of any terrestrial animal.
The name Tyrannosaurus Rex translates to "tyrant lizard king," a fitting title for this apex predator. Despite its fearsome reputation, T. Rex's arms were relatively small, leading to much speculation and debate among paleontologists about their function. Recent studies suggest these arms, while short, were surprisingly strong and may have played a role in close-quarter combat or mating rituals.
