The Papo Platypus measures 4" L
New from Papo in 2023. We really like this figure - especially the paint job. Black leathery duck-bill is accented by a wet look. Tan hide paint looks real. Very striking figure made unique by the action pose. Looking like it is actively swimming.
Platypuses, also known as platypodes, are semi-aquatic mammals native to eastern Australia, Tasmania, and the island of New Guinea. They are unique creatures that have a duck-like bill, webbed feet, and a beaver-like tail. Platypuses have a furry body that is brown in color and covered in waterproof fur that protects them from the cold water they inhabit.
Platypuses are one of only five species of mammals that lay eggs, rather than giving birth to live young. After hatching from their eggs, young platypuses, known as puggles, are fed milk from their mother, who secretes it from specialized mammary glands on her skin.
Platypuses are known for their excellent swimming abilities and can hold their breath for up to two minutes while diving underwater to hunt for food. They feed primarily on insects, crustaceans, and small fish.
