Papo Quetzalcoatlus #55073
3+ Years
Small Parts. Not for children under 3 years.
The Papo Quetzalcoatlus is a savage looking model looks ready to cause some trouble. Monsterlike Quetzalcoatlus representation. Features a moveable jaw. Oranage cranial crest, green neck.
Papo Quetzalcoatlus measures: Wingspan = 6" W (wingtip to wingtip) - 8.25" (rear foot to beak tip) - 3.5" T (floor to crest top)
Papo applies its monster look to another dinosaur model, but the result works well on this model. This model is far from the "standard" looking Quetzalcoatlus. Figure is on all 4 feet but looks ready to crawl / spring into action. Back has good muscle tone and hair texture. Hunched over like an ogre.
Neck is long and bent with green highlights. Transitions into a great looking head. Beak opens and closes but range of motion is very limited. Figure has a long tongue inside mouth but hard to see with limited mouth opening. Orange crest is a nice touch and well painted.
Quetzalcoatlus is a pterosaur known from the Late Cretaceous period of North America, it was one of the largest known flying animals of all time.
More recent estimates based on greater knowledge of azhdarchid proportions place its wingspan at 33-36 ft. Remains found in Texas in 1971 indicate that this reptile had a minimum wingspan of about 36 ft. Generalized height in a bipedal stance, based on its wingspan, would have been at least 9.8 ft high at the shoulder.
Weight estimates for giant azhdarchids are extremely problematic because no existing species share a similar size or body plan, and in consequence, published results vary widely. Generalized weight, based on some studies that have historically found extremely low weight estimates for Quetzalcoatlus, was as low as 150 lb for a 32 ft 10 in individual. A majority of estimates published since the 2000s have been substantially higher, around 440-550 lb.
