Mouflon (Ovis orientalis) are wild sheep native to the mountains of western Asia and the eastern Mediterranean, including countries such as Cyprus, Turkey, Iraq, and Iran. Mouflons are considered to be one of the ancestors of domestic sheep.
Mouflons have distinctive curved horns that are present in both males and females, although the horns of males are typically larger and more curved. They are well adapted to life in mountainous terrain, with strong legs and cloven hooves that provide excellent traction.
Mouflons have a reddish-brown coat with a dark stripe down their back and a light-colored saddle patch on their rump. They are herbivorous and graze on grasses, herbs, and shrubs.
