Papo Oryx Antelope #50139 Review:

This model is consistently one of our best selling Antelope figures. It is oversized relative to many of the other Antelope figures at over 5 by 5 inches. Outstanding horns reach high up into the sky. Color application on this figure is top notch. Body is blend of white, black and brown with a nice black stripe along the back. Face is also well painted with lots of great details. High quality figure from Papo.

Oryx Antelope Information:

The oryx antelope is a large antelope that is native to Africa and the Middle East. It is a member of the bovidae family and has two species, the gemsbok and the beisa oryx. Both species have a striking white and black patterned coat and long, straight horns that may reach up to 4 feet in length. The gemsbok is an extremely large antelope, reaching up to 6 feet tall at the shoulder and weighing up to 550 pounds. The beisa oryx is smaller and is usually around 4 feet tall at the shoulder and weighs up to 300 pounds.

Oryx are well adapted to their arid habitats and can survive without water for up to three weeks, using the moisture in their food to supplement the lack of water. They are also able to conserve water by reducing the amount of urine they produce. Oryx have an interesting social structure, with herds consisting of up to 20 individuals. These herds are led by a dominant male and the members of the herd will often stay together for life, forming strong bonds. Oryx are grazers and spend their days eating grasses, herbs, and shrubs. They are also known to eat roots and tubers.
