Kronosaurus Overview:
There are THREE Kronosaurus (and ONE Pliosaaurus) figures currently available. This information is based on the opinions of our new “in-house” resident paleontologist.

This was selected as the technically most accurate Kronosaurus figure by our in-house expert. Figure is the largest figure available and thus has the most room for details. Highlight of the model is that the jaw opens and closes – even if the inside pink coloring is a little overdone. Lower jaw is correct and overlaps to the outside of the smaller upper snout. Flippers are proportional. Tail is technically not correct is that is horizonal tail. There is no evidence to support that tail shape. Overall coloring is well counter-shaded. A great looking model from PNSO.
Striking brownish color is unique on this model. Most sea creatures are typically some sort of grey, so this reddish brown is unique. The jaw on this figure does open and close, but the joint is very mechanical looking and thus does not look as natural as we would like. Lighter color underbelly is correctly counter shaded. Flippers are proportional. Tail also has a vertical ”fin” which is more correct than the models that end in a point. Oveall a good looking model.
Even though this is the least expensive of the Kronosaurus figure, it still has many nice qualities and is worth serious consideration. The most noticeable feature is the color scheme with its dark grey, light grey and white camouflage patterns. Theses colors transition into a white underbelly (thus correctly counter shaded). Jaw does not open or close – open mouth exposes individually formed teeth and a large tongue. Flippers are correctly proportional. The tail ends in a point which is not believed to be correct and would be difficult to use for water propulsion. Overall a solid figure with eye catching paint.
This is the only Pliosaurus figure that is available and since it is closely related to the Kronosaurus, we included it in this evaluation. If you are looking for a Pliosaurus, this currently the only option.
Overall a solid figure. The mouth is fixed in the open position, exposing well formed teeth and tongue. The deep green coloring (to us) is rather plain looking, but the figure features some sort of leaches / lampreys / suckers that are a very unique detail. Tail ends in a point which is not scientifically correct.
