Ruyangosaurus is a genus of titanosauriform sauropod dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, specifically in what is now known as China. The type species, Ruyangosaurus giganteus, was described in 2009 by paleontologist Lü Junchang.
Ruyangosaurus was a massive dinosaur, estimated to have reached lengths of around 20 meters (65 feet) and a weight of approximately 30 metric tons.
Ruyangosaurus is classified as a titanosauriform sauropod, which belongs to the larger group of long-necked, herbivorous dinosaurs known as sauropods. It falls within the family Euhelopodidae.
Based on the available fossils, Ruyangosaurus is thought to have had a long neck and tail, a large body, and a quadrupedal stance. Like other titanosaurs, it likely had sturdy limbs and a small head relative to its body size.
Ruyangosaurus lived during the Early Cretaceous period, approximately 125 million years ago. The Haoling Formation where its fossils were discovered suggests that it inhabited a terrestrial environment, potentially a floodplain or forested area.
