The plated shell that is impressively textured and realistically designed. Its elongated tail, featuring a multi-pronged club tail, extends far behind the shell.
The CollectA Doedicurus measures: 7"L x 3" T x 2.5" W.
The CollectA Doedicurus model has a great plated shell that is both textured and realistic, and the tail extends long behind the shell with a multi-pronged club tail that is also well textured. The stripes and layers on the tail add to the overall appeal of the model and make it stand out.
The open-mouthed turtle-like head of the Doedicurus is also very well-done, with intricate details that make it look as though it could come to life at any moment. The paint job on this model is top-notch, with muted colors that look as if they could be accurate to real-life.
CollectA calls this a 1:20 scale model.
Doedicurus was a large prehistoric mammal that lived around 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago. The animal was related to present day armadillos, sloths and anteaters and had an average overall length of around 3.6 m (12 ft). It had an unusually shaped shell and a bone club-tail that may have been used in trials between males or defense against predators.
Doedicurus was known for its distinctive appearance, with a rounded, dome-like shell covering its body that was made up of multiple bony plates. The shell was so thick and tough that it was almost impenetrable, making the animal a formidable opponent to predators.
Despite its formidable defenses, Doedicurus went extinct around 10,000 years ago, likely due to a combination of factors such as climate change, hunting by early humans, and competition with other species for resources.
