Small Parts. Not for children under 3 years.
The CollectA Pleuroceras Ammonite features a tightly coiled shell with ribbed ornamentation. This faithfully mimics the characteristic appearance of these ancient marine mollusks. Additionally, the figure's "hoplitoid" shape, with the outer whorl overlapping the inner ones, reflects the typical morphology of Pleuroceras ammonite shells.
CollectA - Pleuroceras Ammonite measures: 4.7" L x 2.8" H
Pleuroceras Ammonites were marine mollusks that thrived during the Early Jurassic period, approximately 200 to 190 million years ago. Belonging to the class Cephalopoda, they were distant relatives of modern-day squids, octopuses, and nautiluses. These extinct creatures left behind a rich fossil record, with their tightly coiled shells being particularly abundant in sedimentary rocks from that era.
Typically, Pleuroceras Ammonites exhibited a distinctive "hoplitoid" shape, characterized by tightly coiled shells with ribbed or striated ornamentation. Their shells often reached sizes of around 5 to 10 centimeters in diameter, making them relatively small compared to some other ammonite genera.
