Waterbucks are known for their distinctive shaggy coats, which vary in color from grayish-brown to reddish-brown, with white markings on the throat, belly, and rump. The most notable feature of the Waterbuck is the large, rounded horns found on males, which curve backward and then forward at the tips.
Waterbucks are primarily found near water sources such as rivers, lakes, and marshes, as they are dependent on water for drinking and to escape predators. They are well adapted to semi-aquatic habitats and are excellent swimmers, using their hoofed feet to navigate through water with ease. Their oily, water-repellent coats also help them stay dry when submerged.
