Black Wildebeest are large antelopes are native to the grassy plains and open woodlands of southern Africa, particularly in countries such as South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana.
These antelopes are primarily grazers, feeding on a variety of grasses and herbs found in their grassland habitats. They are often seen in large herds, where they benefit from safety in numbers and increased vigilance against predators such as lions, hyenas, and cheetahs.
During the breeding season, male Black Wildebeests compete for dominance and access to females through spectacular displays of posturing, vocalizations, and sparring with their horns. Females give birth to a single calf after a gestation period of around eight months, typically timing the birth to coincide with the rainy season when food is plentiful.
