Hippopotamuses, often referred to as "hippos," are renowned for their massive size, barrel-shaped bodies, and semi-aquatic lifestyle.
Hippopotamus calves are born in the water after a gestation period of about 8 months. They are immediately introduced to the aquatic environment by their mothers and spend much of their early days swimming alongside her in rivers, lakes, and marshes.
Despite their cute appearance, Hippopotamus calves are formidable creatures with strong jaws and sharp teeth. They are fiercely protected by their mothers and are capable of defending themselves against potential threats from predators such as crocodiles and lions.
