The Asian Black Bear, also known as the moon bear due to the crescent-shaped white mark on its chest, is a medium-sized bear native to the forests of Asia. These bears are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, nuts, insects, small animals, and even plants. They are excellent climbers and often build nests in trees where they rest or forage. While generally solitary, bear cubs stay with their mothers for up to two years, learning essential survival skills. Unfortunately, the species faces threats from habitat loss and poaching, which has led to its classification as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.
