Dimetrodon - Mini (Bullyland)

Dimetrodon is a genus of extinct reptiles that lived around 295 to 272 million years ago during the Permian period, long before the age of dinosaurs. Despite its common association with dinosaurs, Dimetrodon was not a dinosaur but a synapsid, a group more closely related to mammals than reptiles. Dimetrodon is most famous for the large sail on its back, formed by elongated spines that were likely covered in skin. The function of this sail is debated, but it may have been used for thermoregulation, allowing the animal to absorb or release heat, or as a display feature to attract mates or intimidate rivals.

Dimetrodon was a carnivore, and its sharp, serrated teeth were well-suited for catching and tearing apart prey, which likely included amphibians, reptiles, and other early vertebrates. It had a sprawling gait, and its body structure suggests it was an efficient predator for its time. Growing up to 15 feet long, Dimetrodon was one of the top predators of its ecosystem. Its distinctive sail and prominent role in early vertebrate evolution make it one of the most recognizable prehistoric animals.
