Spiclypeus shipporum Information:

Spiclypeus is a genus of herbivorous dinosaur belonging to the family Ceratopsidae. The only known species within this genus is Spiclypeus shipporum. It is a type of ceratopsid dinosaur, commonly known as horned dinosaurs, which lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 76-75 million years ago. Here are some key characteristics and information about Spiclypeus shipporum: Discovery: Spiclypeus shipporum was discovered in the Judith River Formation of Montana, USA. The first fossils were found in 2015. Description: Spiclypeus was a large dinosaur, estimated to be around 15-20 feet (4.5-6 meters) in length and weighing several tons. Like other ceratopsids, it had a distinctive frill at the back of its skull and horns on its face. Unique Features: One of the notable features of Spiclypeus is the presence of spikes or "spikes" on its frill, which give the dinosaur its name. These spikes, along with other characteristics of its frill, help distinguish it from other known ceratopsids. Horns and Frill: Spiclypeus had two large brow horns above its eyes and a smaller horn on its nose, common traits of ceratopsid dinosaurs. The frill at the back of its skull likely served various purposes, such as defense, display, and regulation of body temperature. Plant-Eater: As a ceratopsid, Spiclypeus was a herbivorous dinosaur, feeding on plants such as ferns, cycads, and other vegetation prevalent during the Late Cretaceous.
