Velociraptor osmolskae information:

The second Velociraptor species scientifically identified as V. osmolskae bears a strong resemblance to V. mongoliensis. However, distinct characteristics in the known fossil remains justify its classification as a separate species. Intriguingly, the Djadochta and Bayan Mandahu Formations have both yielded remarkably similar dinosaur assemblages. For instance, within the Djadochta Formation, Velociraptor mongoliensis, Protoceratops andrewsi, and Pinacosaurus grangeri are considered synonymous. On the other hand, V. osmolskae is linked to the Bayan Mandahu Formation, where it coexisted with Protoceratops hellenikorhinus and Pinacosaurus mephistocephalus. These differences in the associated biota for each geological formation could potentially be attributed to some natural barriers separating the regions in which these deposits were formed. However, conclusive evidence of substantial barriers hindering animal movement between these areas remains elusive. Alternatively, and supported by many paleontologists, it is possible that the distinct faunas are a result of a temporal difference between the two formations, meaning one formation is younger than the other.
