Beasts of the Mesozoic Centrosaurus apertus Juvenile

Beasts of the Mesozoic Centrosaurus apertus Juvenile Manufacturer Information:

Centrosaurus apertus (juvenile)- 1/18th scale Dinosaur Action Figure (pointed lizard) Centrosaurus was a herd animal, as is evidenced by the vast bone beds that have been found. Because of this, it is one of the most-researched dinosaurs, and is also one of the few Ceratopsian species with fossilized skin impressions. This ceratopsian figure measures 10 in. long and has 19 points of articulation. Includes collectible trading card, unique background display insert and instruction sheet. Packaging features red-foil printing with package art by Raul Ramos.

Centrosaurus apertus Information:

Centrosaurus apertus is a species of dinosaur that belonged to the Ceratopsidae family, which are the horned dinosaurs. Here is some information about Centrosaurus apertus: Taxonomy: Centrosaurus apertus was first described by paleontologist Lawrence Lambe in 1904. It is classified under the Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Chordata, Class Reptilia, Superorder Dinosauria, Order Ornithischia, Suborder Marginocephalia, Infraorder Ceratopsia, Family Ceratopsidae, and Subfamily Centrosaurinae. Period and Location: Centrosaurus apertus lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 76 to 75.5 million years ago. Fossil remains of this dinosaur have been found primarily in North America, specifically in what is now Alberta, Canada. Physical Characteristics: Centrosaurus apertus was a large herbivorous dinosaur. Like other ceratopsids, it had a characteristic frill at the back of its skull and a beak-like structure at the front of its snout. It also possessed both small brow horns and longer nose horns, which were common features among ceratopsids. Herding Behavior: Fossil evidence suggests that Centrosaurus apertus exhibited herding behavior, living in groups and migrating together. It is believed that this herding behavior provided protection against predators and facilitated social interactions. Fossil Discoveries: The fossil record of Centrosaurus apertus is quite extensive due to the discovery of large bone beds in Alberta, Canada. These bone beds contain the remains of multiple individuals, indicating the existence of large herds. One of the most famous sites is the Dinosaur Provincial Park, where many Centrosaurus fossils have been unearthed. Possible Predators: Centrosaurus apertus lived alongside other dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus rex, which may have been one of its primary predators. Ceratopsids like Centrosaurus likely relied on their herding behavior and defensive horns to deter or defend against predators. Extinction: Like all non-avian dinosaurs, Centrosaurus apertus went extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period, around 66 million years ago, due to a catastrophic event, most likely an asteroid impact, leading to the mass extinction event known as the Cretaceous-Paleogene (K-Pg) extinction event. As with all extinct species, our understanding of Centrosaurus apertus is based on the available fossil evidence and ongoing research in the field of paleontology. As new discoveries are made and research progresses, our knowledge of this fascinating dinosaur and its relatives continues to evolve.
