This 2022 Allosaurus Toy Buying Guide intends to help you select the Allosaurus Figure Toy that is best for you based on features and your budget. We have ranked the Allosaurus from best to worst. However, that doesn't mean the highest rated Allosaurus is the right one for you as it may not be within your budget - or it may not be the size you are looking for. Here we discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the different Allosaurus figures to assist your decision making so that you can purchase the Allosaurus model that is best for you.
Allosaurus Figure Overview:
We originally reviewed the multiple Allosaurus figures in 2019. At that time, the Papo Allosaurus #55078 was selected as the best overall Allosaurus, and the Mojo Allosaurus #387274 was selected as the best value Allosaurus. Even though the PNSO Allosaurus was introduced in 2021, the Papo Allosaurus has retained its crown as Best Overall Allosaurus.

We selected this as the best Allosaurus toy figure available in 2019. In 2022 – even going up against the new PNSO Allosaurus – the Papo figure retained its title as Best Allosaurus 2022..
Size: The Papo Allosaurus measures: 10” L x 3.8” H.
Product Highlights: This version of the Papo Allosaurus was released in 2019. It actually was a repaint of a previous Papo version, so the actual form actually predates 2019. When released in 2019 we crowned this figure champion Allosaurus - in 2022, (even going up against the newer PNSO allosaurus), the Papo Allosaurus retains its champion status.
This is one of our overall favorite models from Papo - just great detail all over. Head sculpt is top notch and the moveable jaw is one of our favorites. Mouth design and color is well done. Good range of motion on the jaw. Orange eye really pops in color against the darker head. This figure has some of the best back spines on any allosaurus model. The forward motion of the pose really makes it look like this figure is on the hunt.
This model has great leg muscles and another great feature is the front arms. Great shape and great hands. Many other models shortchange the front arms so these are exquisite. Just a great figure from Papo and worthy of retaining its best allosaurus crown.
The PNSO model is a great model also – the Papo figure is generally less expensive than PNSO, so that also swings the vote towards Papo.
Drawbacks:
+ Some state that the Papo model is too aggressive looking and may not be representative of reality
Sleek model is slimmer than other Allosaurus models. Great moveable jaw opens and closes. Bright blue eye is unique and really stands out. New in 2021. Generally one of the more expensive Allosaurus models.
Size: PNSO Paul the Allosaurus measures: 10” L x 3.5” H.
Product Highlights:
This model was released by PNSO is 2021. This is a top notch model with a lot of great features. Head is well done with lots of great details. The bright blue eye is striking and despite its small size - really draws your attention. The jaw opens to reveal a well done mouth with nice teeth. Back foot is in a walking motion and thus is not fully on the ground. Because of this the balance of the figure is more delicate than most but it does stand on its own and does have a balance point. Model is slimmer than most, which really makes for a slick looking model. Front arms seem a little short to us. This is a great looking figure from PNSO. One of the top looking - more traditional - models.
Drawbacks:
+ Cost – Most expensive model on the market.
Tippy - Very tippy without the provided stand.
Colors were updated on this figure in 2018. One of two Allosaurus figures available from Mojo. Voted best value Allosaurus in 2022. Very nice Allosaurus.
Size: The Mojo Allosaurus Deluxe measures: 7.75” L x 3.5” H.
Product Highlights:
New Colors in 2018. This is the original Allosaurus figure from Mojo. Even though Mojo has a new model, this figure still deserves serious consideration to add to your Mojo dinosaur collection. While this figure looks similar to the new Mojo Allosaurus, it is a different slightly different form. Both are good models. This figure does not have a moveable jaw, but we like the mixed paint colors a little better than on the new version. This figure also stands slightly taller than the new version. Nice head sculpt. We voted both Mojo figures as the best value Allosaurus in 2022.
Drawbacks:
None Noted.
Newly released in 2020. Figure has articulated jaw. Voted best value Allosaurus in 2022. Nice brown paint with red accents. Good texture and form.
Size: The Mojo Allosaurus measures: 8.75” L x 3.4” H.
Product Highlights:
This is one of 2 Allosaurus figures available from Mojo. This is the newer version (released in 2020). Both Allosaurus figures from Mojo are good figures. We slightly prefer this one as it has a moveable jaw. The other version (#387274) does not have a moveable jaw. This is a good figure. Head is slightly lower than the tail gives a good sense of motion. Hands and talons are well done. Dark brown base paint with red highlights is well applied on a well textured body. Due to its price point, we selected this as one of the best value Allosaurus in 2022.
Drawbacks:
None Noted.
Bright green paint really stands out. Very stable figure as it rests on its feet and tail. Front hands are well done for a figure in this price point..
Size: The Safari Ltd. Allosaurus measures: 7" L x 3.5" T.
Product Highlights:
As a figure on the lower end of the price scale - this is a good figure for the price. This is the smaller of two Safari Ltd. Allosaurus figures. Bright green paint pops and looks good on the wrinkled and baggy skin. Overall body looks nice. Jaw does not open / close but face has a good look and is attractive. Front hands are well done for a figure at this price point. This figure is better than some of the more expensive versions.
This is on the lower end of the Allosaurus price scale. A good represenation for the price. Flat green paint is fairly standard. Low price is best feature.
Size: CollectA Allosaurus measures: 7" L x 3.5" T.
Product Highlights:
CollectA calls this their "Roaring" version, but we don't see what actually makes this figure roaring. The mouth is open (the mouth does not move) so maybe that is all it takes. This is a fine figure from Collecta - especially if you factor in its lower price. Figure stands on two feet and we had no balance issues with this figure. Head sculpt is fine - teeth are not individually defined. Flat green / brown paint is well applied to a figure that does not have a lot of texture. Nice row of spines down the back are a nice touch. Overall a fine figure for the price.
Figure was newly released in 2019. Figure has a unique paint job we classify as southwester motif. Jaw is fixed in open position and does not close.
Size: Safari Ltd. Allosaurus #100300 measures: 9.75" L x 3.3" T.
Product Highlights:
The highlight of this figure for us is the paint job. Very unique color scheme in a "southwestern" motif. Body texture is fine but not overly defined. Jaw does not open / close. Where we feel this figure misses is with the teeth and the front arms / hands. Teeth are quite stubby and not individually defined. The Allosaurus was a carnivore - these teeth are not carnivorous. The arms are slightly stubby, but the big miss is with the hands. Fingers are stubby and spread out - there are better hands on other figures. Overall an acceptable figure - your opinion of the paint job is what makes or breaks it for you.
